Canada Post Domestic Rates 2022
In the year 2020, Canada Post announced that its document and letter postage rates will increase by two cents. Currently, a letter or parcel must weigh less than 30 grams to qualify for a free stamp. The new costs are determined by the weight of the mail item, its destination country, and its size. While the changes are minor, the new costs are a welcome addition to the mailing service. The new rates will help Canadians send documents and letters without breaking the bank.
The document rates are based on the destination address. If the address is the same as the address on the document, the postage must be the same. In other words, Canada Post does not offer a prepaid postage option. However, the Canada Post XpressPost service provides native labels in PNG or ZPL. If you are shipping a package, make sure to label it properly so that you don't incur additional charges for an unmanifested package.
In addition, the postage rate for documents is based on the weight and size of the item. Smaller documents can be sent for a low price by Canada Post, while larger and heavier documents are priced higher. A parcel is a parcel if it weighs more than 500 grams. While the parcel rate for an item over 500 grams is the same as for standard size mail, a letter or document with unusual shapes or sizes will be charged an additional $3.88.
